Rare plants, real quality

Typical questions

Why Plantejakteren?

Some rare plants are difficult to find, and importing foreign plants is time-consuming in addition to having to follow specific laws and regulations to the letter. This includes checking for pests and import documents.

Order through us to get high quality tropical and rare plants at a great price.

What are the advantages of group import?

Group import of plants offers advantages for both us and you as a customer. By consolidating orders into one large import, we can negotiate better shipping rates and reduce costs per plant. This allows us to offer a wider selection of rare plants at lower prices.

At the same time, group imports give us the opportunity to check the condition of the plants, inspect for damage, remove pests and allow them to acclimatise before further dispatch.

For you, this means access to unique plants at more affordable prices, with the peace of mind that they have been carefully checked and are ready for their new home, while reducing the environmental impact.

How do group imports work?

Group import of plants means that we collect several orders together to import plants in larger quantities. Each supplier we import from has an " import status ", and when you order a plant within this ongoing group import helps to reach the target of 100%. When we reach 100%, the order is sent to the supplier.

Then it usually takes around 2 weeks before the plants are sent from the supplier, 1 week to reach us, and 1-2 weeks to be sent from us, depending on acclimatization needs.

This means that you must expect 4-5 weeks before the plant reaches your home.

What happens if the import status does not reach 100%?

If we do not reach 100% within a reasonable time, you will get your money refunded.

Is there any risk with group imports?

For you as a customer, there is low risk with group imports, as we take much of the risk on your behalf. The biggest risk is associated with shipping from the supplier and acclimatization. This is what we are responsible for.

Beyond this, there is no additional risk compared to other types of plant purchases.

How do I take care of the plants after receiving them?

When the plants arrive at you, we have already started the process of acclimatization here with us. This includes checking the plants for pests and making sure they are beginning to adapt to new environmental conditions. Nevertheless, it is important that you follow a few steps to ensure that your plants thrive in their new home:

  1. Quarantine the plants : Although we have checked the plants for pests, we strongly recommend that you quarantine them for at least two weeks. This helps detect any hidden pests or diseases that may have escaped detection during the initial inspection.
  2. Avoid immediate repotting : Your plants need time to adjust to their new environment after a long journey. Please wait 1-2 weeks before considering repotting or other major changes. This applies to plants that are delivered in pots with substrate.
  3. Monitor the plants closely : Keep an eye on your plants for the first few weeks to make sure they are adjusting well. Look for signs of stress, such as yellowing leaves or wilting, and adjust watering or location as needed. Plants that have been on the move may be tired from the journey, and will possibly lose some new leaves. This is completely natural.

By following these steps, you give your plants the best chance of establishing and thriving in their new environment.

What is special hunting?

With our "special hunt" feature, you can get help finding plants that are extra rare or not available elsewhere, including through our group imports.

If you are looking for a specific plant that you cannot find in our range, you can send us a request. We will use our network of suppliers and contacts to look for the plant and we will let you know as soon as we find it.
